SERVICES:  The program in the Casper area is coordinated locally on behalf of the NOWCAP regional Foster Grandparent Program under the direction of Carol Andreen, 319 South 6th, Thermopolis, WY 82443 (1-888-577-1374).  A Foster Grandparent serves as a role model, mentor, and friend to help children on a one-to-one basis to achieve improved physical, mental, emotional, and social development.  Foster Grandparent volunteers serve with schools, day care centers, and other youth facilities.  The program provides individual tutoring services to guide children as well as a service to help retired seniors stay active, live longer, and maintain a positive outlook on life.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  Seniors 55 or older who want to share their experience and compassion for children.  Foster Grandparents serve from 15 to 40 hours per week; some volunteers may qualify to earn a tax-free, hourly stipend.  Application required, including “Income Review” form, an FBI fingerprinting background check, physical examination form, driver’s license and car insurance (if you drive).
